Traffic delays are expected on I-70 before the K-State football game

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – College football fans, including K-State fans, are celebrating this weekend as the first week of games begins. However, construction on I-70 may cause delays for those traveling to Manhattan on Saturday to watch the Wildcats take on Tennessee-Martin.

Trooper Ben Gardner of the Kansas Highway Patrol said that as of 2 p.m., traffic was already backed up on the eastbound side of I-70 west of the construction zone near Junction City. Drivers should expect delays as more vehicles enter the area.

Private Ben advises those hoping to make the 6pm start to consider an alternative route if possible.

If you can’t make it to Manhattan to watch the game in person, it airs on ESPN+ at 6 p.m.
