Readers Answer: Bridge design should reflect people’s choice

How dare the committee tasked with advising on a new Burnside Bridge design ignore the 55% of voters who expressed a preference for an arch design? (“New Burnside Bridge Should ‘Look Like No Other’ Portland, Committee Says,” August 20). The committee recommends the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners design the Burnside Bridge as the fourth and most expensive. I urge the county commissioners to respect the first choice of the survey respondents. Otherwise, why vote at all?
