Search and rescue operation underway for man missing after truck plunges into sea at Port Klang’s Westport Jetty

SHAH ALAM, Sept. 1 — A search and rescue operation is underway for a man who is said to have fallen into the sea following an accident involving a lorry at Westport Wharf near here this afternoon.

“The search and rescue (SAR) operation involving four members of the Port Klang BBP Water Rescue Team is underway. The victim is yet to be found,” Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said in a statement.

Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said his team received a call about the incident at 12.45pm about the man, Mohd Hafiz Abdul Salam, 24, who fell into the sea following the accident.

Wan Md Razali said the incident also involved the said truck which plunged into the sea.

“Following this, four officers and members of the Pulau Indah Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were deployed to the location and were assisted by three members of BBP Shah Alam along with a boat and 13 members of the Westport Authority.

Wan Md Razali said the SAR operation also received assistance from the Marine Police Force and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) along with two boats. — Bernama
