An 11-year-old boy in a Kansas home was hit in the head by gunfire

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement is investigating an overnight shooting that sent a boy to the hospital.

Just after 12:30 a.m. Saturday, police were in the area of ​​the 1400 block of N. Lorraine in Wichita when they heard gunshots, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.

A church building, which four people occupied at the time, was hit by gunfire; fortunately, no injuries were reported at the church.

A second scene was identified in the 1400 block of N. Lorraine, where a residence was also hit. An 11-year-old boy inside the residence suffered a non-life threatening head injury. The child was transported to the local hospital for medical care.

This is an active investigation and officers are actively following leads to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
