The memorial honors the young Moorhead girl killed in a stabbing at Gooseberry Park

MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) – A memorial has been started for a young Moorhead woman who was stabbed last week at Gooseberry Park.

Jaelyn Walker was only 14 years old. She was set to start her freshman year at Moorhead High this week.

It is not clear how long the memorial has been there. It includes a photo of Walker, a cross, flowers, a pair of red shoes and more. It is located near the Red River where she was found, in the area of 6th Ave. & Elm St.

Documents say her mother reported her missing on Aug. 19. Investigators were able to track her phone and find her the next morning.

Issac Arndt, 18, was arrested shortly after, charged with murder in her death. He is being held on $1 million bond at the Clay County Jail.

Court documents show the two had recently broken up and agreed to meet at the park. The records state that the two began arguing and that Arndt admitted to stabbing Walker 13 times before fleeing the scene.
