Over 1,100, including Hasina, Quader sued in 2 fresh cases in Gazipur

More than 1,100 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader and other top party leaders, have been charged in two new murder cases filed over the killing of protesters by Bangladesh border police at Gazipur on 5th August.

The cases were filed by the family members of two of the deceased at the Sreepur police station last night (August 28).

A total of 95 accused have been named in the cases, including Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former liberation war minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Awami League organizing secretary Mirza Azam, former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al. Mamun, former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman and former Detective Branch Chief Harun Or Rashid.

At least another 1,100 people have been kept unnamed in case documents, police said.

The deceased are – Jakir Hossain Rana, 35, son of Jamal Uddin of Kopatiyapara in Sreepur and Rahmat Mia, 20, son of Monju Mia of Jamthal area of ​​Sariakandi in Bogura.

Confirming the matter, Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge KM Sohel Rana said, “In his case, Jamal Uddin named 35 people and kept another 500-600 nameless. Awami League Presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim is among the named accused. “

“Meanwhile, in his case, Monju Mia has accused former ICT minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak and 59 others as named and kept 500-600 others as unnamed,” the OC added.
