Labor Day weekend is more likely to have good weather than the other summer holidays – InForum

FARGO — Labor Day is often considered the end of summer as school starts up and the weather starts turning cooler. Many of us head to a beach, get into a boat, or at least fire up a grill to enjoy the summer weather. The weather has a good chance of being in our favor. Historically speaking, Labor Day is the driest holiday of the summer.

Memorial Day is the wettest holiday with 60 percent of the past holidays in Fargo recording rain since 1942. Independence Day has a 50-50 chance of showers in recorded history in our region. There has only been rain recorded 45 percent of the Labor Days holidays in Fargo and 39 percent in Grand Forks. This decrease in rain frequency is due to the fact that the weather patterns and currents are transitioning out of the stormier summer pattern and trending towards more stable fall weather.
