‘World’s Largest Walking Event’ in Ocala Raising Alzheimer’s Awareness

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – ‘World’s Largest Walking Event’ in Ocala Raising Alzheimer’s Awareness

Today, Walkers are putting on their running shoes for an event called “Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association.

The event starts at 4:30pm and will run until 6:30pm at The Black Sheep Restaurant at 128 SW Broadway St. in Ocala.

It is open to the public and will be a glimpse of what the Ocala Walk will be like on September 28th. This event begins at 9:00 a.m. and will be held at Citizens’ Circle, 151 SE Osceola Ave., in Ocala.

In Florida, more than 580,000 people live with the disease and 840,000 unpaid caregivers for dementia. Marion County has approximately 12,600 people over the age of 65 living with Alzheimer’s.
