A South Korean company focused on precision cleaning and advanced coatings for devices and tools used in semiconductor manufacturing has purchased a building in Mesa for its third location in the United States.

KoMiCo purchased a 125,000-square-foot building in Mesa located at 7300 E. Hampton Ave. The company paid $17.5 million for the space, according to brokers at NAI Horizon, which represented KoMiCo in the transaction. The site will be the company’s largest US facility.

“KoMiCo is proud to partner with the City of Mesa to further establish the Silicon Desert as the most technologically advanced semiconductor manufacturing region in the United States,” Shawn Jang, KoMiCo US CEO, said in a statement.

The Mesa facility represents approximately $50 million in capital expenditures for the company. It is expected to open in 2026 and will create around 200 jobs.

“KoMiCo’s technology to service the world’s most advanced chips helps Phoenix continue to distinguish itself as a leader in the semiconductor ecosystem,” Chris Camacho, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, said in a statement.

KoMiCo is a supplier to both Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and Intel, which are in the midst of massive construction projects in north Phoenix and Chandler, respectively.

The company is one of dozens that have come to Valea in the last four years. According to data from the Chips for America office, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, there were 43 companies in the semiconductor industry that expanded in Arizona or set up new locations in Arizona, accounting for about 19,000 new jobs from the 2022 passage of the Chips and Science Act. .
