A Monroe County man is dead after a tree fell on his home, the sheriff’s office says

MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a storm-related death Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Burdett Road in Sweetwater around 5:30 p.m. Friday after a tree fell on it, according to Det. Billy Littleton of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Littleton said the tree fell on one house that was being remodeled.

Littleton added that David Vinson, 67, of the Sweetwater area, was the only person inside at the time of the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Because of the damage to the home, Littleton said it took crews several hours to get Vinson out of the home.

Littleton said MCSO would like to thank all crews that responded Friday.
