A man was killed in an overnight shooting in East Anchorage, and police said Saturday they are looking for a suspect.

Few details were immediately available. Police said in a summary posted online that they were called to the 400 block of North Bliss Street near Mountain View Drive shortly after 3 a.m. on reports of shots fired. A man was found in an alley with a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, police wrote.

The victim was not immediately identified.

Police said they searched the area for a suspect but were unsuccessful.

“While the motive for the shooting is still under investigation, the information gathered so far indicates that this is an isolated incident and not a random event,” police wrote. “There is no specific description of the suspect currently available for release.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 3-1-1 (option #1), call 907-786-8900 (press “0”) or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at www.AnchorageCrimeStoppers.com.
