‘Wicked Tuna’ Canceled After 13 Seasons On Nat Geo — Fans React | Entertainment news

Wicked tone it’s bad over.

Nat Geo has canceled the documentary series, which for 13 seasons documented the commercial tuna fishing industry in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

“After thirteen seasons on the high seas and over 200 incredible episodes, the long-running series Wicked tone has ended its run on National Geographic,” the cable station said in a statement on Friday, August 16, per Varietywhich first reported the news of the cancellation.

Nat Geo added: “The series has celebrated one of America’s oldest industries since first premiering on National Geographic in 2012 and has made internationally recognized stars out of the intrepid commercial fishermen who brave the relentless waters of the North Atlantic to catch the elusive red tuna. As we reflect on 13 great seasons and over 200 episodes, our appreciation for our production partners at Pilgrim Media Group, our cast and crew, the Gloucester community and the show’s dedicated fans is hard to put into words. It’s been an incredible journey together and there are only two words that seem to fit the moment: Thank you.”

Dave Marciano, one of the captains who played Wicked tonereacted to the news on Friday in an X post. “Thank you to everyone who followed,” he wrote. “You all made it possible. @natgeotv and @pilgrimmedia have been great partners in this opportunity for me and the kids. We will always be grateful.”

Fans of the series are already in mourning. “OMG I’m so sad and mad I just read they canceled @WickedTuna,” wrote one user X. “My family loved this show. I send my best to all anglers and anglers.”

Another said: “This was a great family show! My daughter and I watched every episode like clockwork. It’s very sad to see quality TV off the air.”

One fan slammed Nat Geo, writing: “Your cancellation of @WickedTuna is one of the worst things I’ve heard in weeks. @CaptMarciano (and) the others put on a phenomenal program. Now I don’t need to have your channel. I hope some smart manufacturing company picks it up. I will praise (and) promote whatever they do.”

And another issued a Pilgrim Media edict, writing in all caps: “PLEASE TAKE IT BAD TUNE SOMEWHERE.”
