Bill Gates signs the first India Day celebrations in the Greater Seattle area

Seattle (USA), Aug 18 (ANI): The Greater Seattle area’s first India Day celebrations were marked by Bill Gates, chairman of the Gates Foundation, on the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day on Saturday (local time).

Gates addressed more than 2,000 members of the Indian-American community, praising India’s global leadership in innovation, technology, agriculture and healthcare.

Bill Gates was the guest of honor. The event showcased India’s diverse cultural heritage through floats and performances, highlighting the theme of Unity in Diversity.

Addressing nearly 2,000 members of the Indian-American community on Saturday, he referred to India “as a global leader with breakthrough innovations in areas such as technology, agriculture and health”.

The Consulate of India in Seattle thanked Bill Gates for canceling the First India Day celebrations in the Greater Seattle area.

Each of the floats were assembled by prominent leaders of the Indian-American community and reflected some of the important aspects of India’s rich cultural heritage.

In another special gesture, five separate official proclamations were issued by the governments/city councils of King County, Bellevue City (Washington), Portland (Oregon), Hillsboro (Oregon), Tigard (Oregon) to honor the India Day celebrations.

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon also sent a separate message of congratulations on India’s 78th Independence Day. Some iconic buildings in Seattle and Bellevue also lit up in tricolors to mark the India Day celebrations.

Other distinguished attendees at the India Day celebrations were Congresswoman Suzan DelBene, Congressman Kim Schrier, Congressman Adam Smith, Maj. Gen. Xavier Brunson, commander of America’s First Corps in the Pacific Northwest, Rear Admiral Mark Sucato, commander of the Marine Region Northwest. , Washington Lt. Gov.
