Kolkata: The parents of the deceased post-graduate medical student of RG Kar Medical College & Hospital on Saturday told the media that they doubted whether it was the act of a single person and that there was an insider’s role after they saw their daughter’s body. They also claimed to have doubts whether she was killed in the seminar hall or in another room.

The parents blamed “negligence” on the part of her department and said police initially harassed them on August 9, the day her daughter’s body was found.

The victim’s mother also alleged that the police tried to hijack the case and told them that their daughter was sick after showing them medicines and prescriptions while preparing the seizure list. “We faced so much harassment until the body was brought. The mother of the deceased Medical student said that she informed the Bengal Chief Minister when he came to her home that there was involvement of insiders and the CM looked at the policeman accompanying her.

She claimed that she said she told Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that Sanjay Roy, who was arrested for rape and murder, was not the main accused and someone else was involved in the murder. “The president told me that the main accused has been arrested. I told him that I did not consider that person to be the main accused. If someone on the inside wasn’t involved, how could (Roy) know my daughter was alone?” said the medical student’s mother.

“We blame her department. No one from her department contacted us that day. No body from her department has contacted us till now since her death,” claimed the girl’s father.
