Will Taylor Swift be in town for Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs’ first preseason game?

Here we are again. It seems like just yesterday Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce enjoyed their post-Super Bowl hug after the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers to win the title. But it wasn’t yesterday, it was February (I know!), and after a previously promised summer hiatus that saw Kelce make a series of stops on Swift’s Eras Tour, it’s time for Kelce to get back to work — and to ask the eternal question, “will Taylor Swift at the tournament today. Boss game?”

Kelce landed in Jacksonville for last Saturday night’s game, People reports, stepping off the team plane and onto the Florida tarmac. The new tight end with a mustache (how do we feel about that ‘stache?) is expected to play in today’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, coach Andy Reid said earlier this week, though preseason games are often when a team lets its untested talent take the field.

“I’m going to play everybody,” Reid said at a news conference Wednesday. “In terms of playing time for this game, we’re going to go for one quarter, two for the second quarter, three for the third quarter and four for the fourth quarter.” By “the,” Reid means the team’s starters, a lineup that includes Travis Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomesamong other top level players.

In other words, those who want to see Kelce in action should get to the game by 6:00 PM ET, as he will only be on the court for the first 15 minutes of the game. And now we get back to the most burning question: Will Taylor Swift be one of those in attendance at EverBank Stadium for the game?

A representative for Swift did not respond to VAnity Fairhis question as of publication, so the best answer we can give is “maybe?” Swift, as you know, is still in the middle of her Eras tour, so if I were writing this last week, I’d tell you that her Vienna tour dates would make an appearance impossible. But then came the shocking news that several suspects were planning a coordinated terror attack on the shows at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, which had been scheduled for August 8-10. As a result, the concerts were canceled and Swift’s calendar opened up.

Swift’s next shows aren’t until Thursday, August 15, when she returns to London’s Wembley Arena — the same stage where a tuxedo-clad Kelce joined her on stage in June, and where a much more casually dressed Kelce posed for a selfie with Swift. Prince William, Prince Georgeand Princess Charlotte. All of this to say that if she feels 1) ready for a few trans-continental flights and 2) interested in preseason play, Swift could certainly show up for today’s game.

If not, Swift’s next chance to watch Kelce will be on Aug. 22 when the Chiefs meet the Chicago Bears in their final game before the regular season begins. (Swift will be available from midfield at Wembley when the Chiefs play the Detroit Lions on August 17.) Since the Eras tour spans from August 20 to November 14, it’s even more likely that we’ll see Swift at the five scheduled Chiefs games during that break.
