Tropical Storm Debby’s heaviest rain wraps around Vermont, but leaves wind damage

Tropical Depression Debby moved through Vermont on Friday, Aug. 9, causing power outages from “damaging” winds and rain, Green Mountain Power reported Saturday morning.

Despite concerns about more mass flooding, Vermont accumulated far less rain than during storms on July 10-11, which dumped up to 7.25 inches of rain on the Caledonia County town of Walden.

Instead, most cities and towns in the Green Mountain State received less than 2 inches of rain Friday, with few accumulating more than 1.5 inches, according to a seven-day report from the National Weather Service in South Burlington.
