TxDOT Know Before You Go for the week of Aug. 12, 2024

Officials from the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) released information on various lane closures and updates due to ongoing projects:

On Monday, Aug. 12, crews will begin replacing the Hope Road bridge on I-40, just west of Amarillo. The traveling public can anticipate the following lane and ramp closures:

  • I-40 westbound frontage road from Helium Road to BI-40
  • Westbound BI-40 to I-40 frontage road exit ramp
  • I-40 westbound entrance ramp from Hope Road
  • I-40 eastbound exit ramp 62A to Hope Road
  • I-40 eastbound entrance ramp from Arnot Road
  • I-40 south frontage road from eastbound exit ramp 62A to Hope Road intersection
  • Eastbound exit ramp 62B for Amarillo Boulevard

These closures will happen intermittently throughout the project; depending on the work that is being performed at that time. The project is expected to be completed in early 2025.

Throughout the week

Expect various lane closures on eastbound I-40 over Tyler Street and Harrison Street for continued bridge work. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Aug. 16. During this time, the following exit and entrance ramps will be closed intermittently:

  • Georgia Street to eastbound I-40 entrance ramp
  • Eastbound I-40 to Washington Street exit ramp
  • Washington Street to eastbound I-40 entrance ramp
  • Eastbound I-40 to southbound I-27 exit ramp
  • Eastbound I-40 to northbound US 287 exit ramp
  • Southbound US 287 to eastbound I-40 entrance ramp

Expect various lane closures on westbound I-40 from Ross Street to Harrison Street as crews perform bridge work. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Aug. 16.

Please drive with caution and reduce speed through all work zones. All projects are subject to change due to weather, emergency work and other unexpected events.
