Sandy Creek’s Jake Dane Makes History With Class D Golf State Tournament Win

Sandy Creek Jake Dane trailed by four strokes heading into the final day of the Class D state tournament at Lake Maloney Golf Course.

Dane, who’s committed to Doane University, came from behind to win the first Sandy Creek individual boys state championship.

“I missed the putt and then I figured id probably be fifth or sixth and then I saw those three tackle me and I was like no way I just won,” said Dane.

Sandy Creek head coach Jared Blackwell said after the first day he gave his young golfer some advice.

“I told him we’re going to play our style of game and let the other kids chase you and it’ll either chase you or blow up and he was able to execute golf shots down the stretch and he is what he is,” said Blackwell.
