Former Raiders star avoids jail in domestic violence case

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Former Las Vegas Raiders star Chandler Jones will avoid prison on two counts of domestic violence, according to a preliminary ruling in his case.

Former Raiders running back Chandler Jones was arrested again in Las Vegas for the second time in two weeks, records show.

According to a June 17 Clark County Justice Court filing, Jones agreed to plead “nolo contendere,” meaning he accepts a conviction but does not admit guilt. The final disposition of Jones’ case remains pending, but according to the agreement, his sentence is as follows:

  • Suspended prison sentence, 90 days, effective 6/17
  • Stay out of trouble, six months, 6/17-12/17
  • No contact with the victim except as ordered by the family court.

Jones was arrested twice last fall for violating a domestic violence protection order. He has a court date to review the status of sentencing conditions on October 29.
