Greenfield Recorder – Bulletin Board: Jason Kelton wins Country Club of Greenfield’s Senior Open

The Country Club of Greenfield held its Senior Open on Friday, with Jason Kelton walking away as the champion after carding a round of 68.

Wayne Wright posted a low net 69.

In the Pinehurst flight, Mark Karpiej and William Ingham tied for first (71), while Rob Parsi tied for third (72). Brodie Conant and Scott Bertrand tied for low net (70), while Dennis Sullivan and Roy Emerson tied for third (71).

In the Royal Troon flight, Ed Garbacik managed to push a low score (73), while John Bresnahan and Al Alminas tied for second (74). Richard Tozloski tied for second (70), while Jim Lafleur and Mark Kennedy tied for second (71).

In the Augusta flight, John Shultis managed the low gross (77), while Ernie Patnode took second (79). Terry Sinclair (70) and Doug Finck (71) carded the low scores.

Greenfield Elks League

Bill Erman and Paul Viens finished with the top score of 51.5 in the Greenfield Elks League at the Country Club of Greenfield Wednesday.

Joe Lachance and Bill Martin settled for second with Jerry Gaimari and Dan Hohengasser (48.5) while Keith Schempp and John Stacy settled for fourth (48).

In closest to the pin, Jeff Neipp won at No. 2 (seven feet, nine inches), while Dan Smith won at No. 5 (11-7).

Basket-ball

DRIVE League

Grayson Thomas scored 22 points while Jon Breor had 14 to help Greenfield pull away with a 72-46 win over Athol in DRIVE League boys varsity action at Greenfield High School on Thursday .

Ethan Bacigalupo scored 12 points, while Ethan Heuer added 11 points for the Bears.

Later, Jack Cady scored 22 points and Oscar Korson scored 19 points to propel Brattleboro to a 73-59 victory over Easthampton. Trevor Canon-Smith led the Eagles with 20 points.

To cap off the night, Morgan Softic scored 21 points, while Jayden Delgado had 15 points in the Orange’s 59-46 triumph over Hampshire. Vincent Carr had 14 points for the Raiders.

Franklin Tech Summer League

Skyler Steele scored 15 points, Harper Modestow scored 10 points, Jazzy Hayes had eight points, while Whitney Campbell and Bella Orrell each had four points in Frontier’s 48-28 win over Pioneer in Franklin Tech Summer Girls Basketball League, Thursday.

Addie Harrington scored 14 points, Emme Calkins had eight points, while Alexa Jagodzinski and Sophia Jagodzinski each had three points for the Panthers.

In the second game of the night, Mahar cruised to a 38-15 win over Hopkins behind 29 points from Nevaeh Scribner, five points from Taylor Paluk and three points from Thea Whitmore.

Maggie Potter scored five points, while Laynee Crutch and Morgan Augustin both had four points for the Golden Hawks.

In the next game, Anna Bucala poured in 13 points, Tayler Bergeron had eight points and Niyah Strohman had three points in Greenfield’s 24-15 win over Athol. Ava Martin had nine points, Ava Adams scored four points and Jayla Taylor added two points for the Bears.

To round out the night, Haleigh Benoit scored 11 points, Brayleigh Burgh scored 10 points, Lilianna Inman finished with eight points and Laken Woodard added five points in Franklin Tech’s 38-23 win over Greenfield.

Bucala (14), Bergeron (four) and Strohman (three) led the Green Wave in scoring.
