Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield has declared himself right to go after overcoming a second hamstring battle this year.

Dangerfield missed the senior squad in Round 7 after injuring his left hamstring.

However, with the next bye after the Round 13 clash with Sydney, Cats coach Chris Scott may be reluctant to put ‘Danger’ into action despite resuming full training in the last two weeks.

“There are two schools of thought. First of all, I’ve been training for a couple of weeks and I’m ready to go, which I feel like I am,” Dangerfield said on SEN. Whateley.

“But the other is you’ve got an extra game and it’s actually two more weeks of training, which is probably five (many) 10-12 kilometer sessions.”

A meeting on Tuesday with Scott and Geelong’s medical staff will give Dangerfield clarity on what the next two weeks will look like in terms of training.

Now, after 325 AFL games, the former Crow has looked at altering his playing style to prevent the soft tissue injuries that have plagued him over the past four years.

Dangerfield hasn’t played a full season since 2020, but revealed the adjustment he’s making at age 34.

“The last two hamstring injuries I’ve had were exactly the same mechanism, bending to full extension without really bending the knee,” Dangerfield said.

“What that basically means is you’re probably getting to the ball a little bit slower, not because you haven’t been running as fast or as explosive, but you’ve gotten into a position where you’re bending your knees more, taking a little more time to bend over. rather than taking it to full speed and full stretch without going very low … and that’s always been my strength.”
