Marion Crosby Obituary – Gloucester, VA

GLOUCESTER – Marion Frederick “Fred” Crosby, 81, died Monday, February 15, 2016. Born in Lynchburg, VA, raised in Hampton. He served in the US Army, retiring as a master sergeant after 28 1/2 years of service, then went to work for the Department of the Navy at the Pentagon, retiring in 1999, after which he moved to Gloucester. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1504, Laurel, MD, loved the outdoors and loved his dogs as if they were his children. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, James Frederick and Mary Lois Crosby and his siblings, Charles Crosby, Mary Phyllis Snelson, Leonard Wray Crosby, James Patrick Crosby and Audrey Lane Crosby. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Crosby; his sister, Doris Ann Herron; his brother, William L. Crosby; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2016, in the chapel of the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. John Randall. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
