I AM WAVERLE MONROE AFTER COMPETING FOR OFFICERS TWICE A WANTED MAN IS NOW IN CUSTODY. LAST EVENING THE NEBRASKA STATE PATROL ISSUED AN EMERGENCY ALERT FOR 42 YEARS. JASON DAVENPORT. It was after soldiers said he opened fire on them and fled. WITH WHOM? AUTHORITIES ARE ON A CITATION, PARTICIPANT AVAILABLE THAT THE SEARCH CONTINUED INTO KENNARD OVERNIGHT WHERE IT TURNED INTO IMPACT. KETV NEWSATCH SEVEN’S SARAH FILI HAS THE UPDATES FROM NEBRASKA STATE PATROL HEADQUARTERS. THE NEBRASKA STATE PATROL SAYS JUST TRYING TO SPEAK TO JASON DAVENPORT BECAUSE HE WAS FLEEING A POLICE OFFICER’S TRAFFIC STOP LAST WEEK BUT THEN THEY LEARN HE HAS A WARRANT OUT OF POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, A SPC SAYMANKS, BANCHANA, D. OPENED A DOOR HOME ON SOUTH 30TH STREET AND APPEARED TO BE COOPERATIVE, ATTEMPTED TO TALK TO DAVENPORT HIMSELF IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE BEFORE RUNNING OUT THE BACK OF THE HOUSE, HE FIRED TWO SHOTS AT THE POLICE AND AN OMAHA POLICE OFFICER WHO RETURNED FIRE. IT IS SAID HE ATTEMPTED TO GET INTO AN UNOCCUPIED NSP CRUISER AND GET TO THE CARBINE WHICH WAS LOCKED INSIDE BUT DID NOT USE IT DUE TO SECURITY MEASURES IN THE VEHICLE. THEY SAY THAT’S WHEN THEY SHOT THE BANKS INTO THE CAR. DAVENPORT USING HER AS A HUMAN SHIELD. BUT THEN SHE WILLINGLY GET INTO THE CAR WITH HIM AND TAKES OFF. NSP pulled their information in a Washington County deputy spotted a KIÉ FRAT. Realizing that DAVENPORT was inside, they tried to stop him when the two entered a semi-cab, which initiated an hours-long standoff near Kennard. NSP SAYS DAVENPORT WAS STILL HOLDING THE PUNCH AND FIRED AGAIN AT THE OFFICERS, WHO FIRED BACK. BANKS CAME OUT OF THE SEMI WITH A GUN WOUND AND A K-9 WAS DEPLOYED AND A TACTICAL VEHICLE WAS DEPLOYED TO EXTRACT DAVENPORT. COLONEL JOHN BOLDUC RELEASED US WITH DASH CAM VIDEO FROM THE CRUISER DAVENPORT TRIED TO STEAL. THIS IS THE MOMENT HE SHOT FOR THE OFFICERS. FIRST TIME IN OMAHA. YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE HE HAS THE PUMP IN POSITION AT THIS MOMENT. UH, HE IN THIS PHOTO IS CLEARLY PICKING UP THE PUMP AND POINTING IT AT THE OFFICERS. UH, CLEARLY THIS IS A DEADLY FORCE SITUATION. VERY THREATENING SITUATION FOR OUR PEOPLE. I MEAN, THIS IS THE EVENT WHERE BANKS PULLED UP AND INTERJECTED BACK INTO THE SCENE, AND, UH, HE WAS, UH, ALLOWED HER INTO HER VEHICLE, WHICH THEY FLED IN. AND THIS SHOWS THAT IT IS A. IT WAS USED. UH IT APPEARS THAT SHE WAS USED AS A SHIELD EVEN THOUGH. AND THEN AFTER THAT, SHE VOLUNTARILY GET INTO THE CAR. BANKS IS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH A LIVING INJURY. Again, she was shot. DAVENPORT ALSO HAS INJURIES. IT IS NOT CLEAR IF HE WAS SHOT, BUT HE IS IN THE HOSPITAL. BOTH WILL FACE A NUMBER OF FELONIES FOR THIS INCIDENT. NSP SAYS DAVENPORT HAS A LONG CRIMINAL HISTORY AND MANY CONTACTS WITH THE POLICE. THEY INCLUDE THAT HE WAS RECENTLY IMPRISONED. NOW BOTH SHOTS WILL BE INVESTIGATED. OMAHA POLICE WILL INVESTIGATE OMAHA FIRST. THE NEBRASKA STATE PATROL WILL INVESTIGATE THE SECOND. A woman accused of helping a man escape from Omaha police and Nebraska police was held on bond during a court appearance. Dana Banks, 41, is charged with accessory to a felony, accessory after the fact and obstructing a peace officer. She was held on $250,000 bail. According to court documents, Banks helped Jason Davenport escape after he opened fire on the officers. She drove to Davenport when he approached the officers, got out of the driver’s seat, helped him to the car, then got into the passenger side, according to court documents. Davenport was arrested after a standoff in Kennard, Nebraska State Patrol. Authorities said Banks was a “willing participant.” Davenport, who is accused of shooting law enforcement multiple times, including in Omaha, faces more than 100 years in prison. man who shot at officers was arrested for attempted assault in the first degree, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, and operating a motor vehicle to elude arrest. A woman accused of helping a man escape from Omaha police and Nebraska police was held on bond during a court appearance.

According to court documents, Banks helped Jason Davenport escape after he opened fire on the officers.

She drove to Davenport when he approached the officers, got out of the driver’s seat, helped him into the car, then got into the passenger side, according to court documents.

Davenport was taken into custody after a standoff in Kennard, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

Authorities said Banks was a “willing participant.”

Davenport, who is accused of shooting law enforcement multiple times, including in Omaha, faces more than 100 years in prison.
