How to protect your charity from unfair attorneys’ fees

In recent years, we have seen an increase in practices of attorneys who overcharge for the work they do, showing little correlation between their fee and the amount of work handled. While this is by no means reflective of all solicitors – as most do excellent and honest work and charge accordingly – there does seem to be a tendency for less scrupulous practitioners to inflate their fees. This leaves some charities, particularly smaller ones, who may not be as aware of their rights, with reduced income.

The aim of this article is to raise awareness of the issue and advise charities of all sizes on what they can do if they feel they are being unfairly charged.
