Hindu share India’s population in India has declined since independence – Hindu Press International

INDIA, May 28, 2024 (MSN): According to the EAC-PM (Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister) working paper, which was released on Tuesday, the share of Hindu population in India declined by 7.82% between 1950 and 2015. In the corresponding period, the share of the Muslim population registered an increase of 43.15 percent. The share of other religious minorities, except Parsis and Jains, has seen a population increase of up to 6.58% in these 65 years. According to the report, the share of India’s majority Hindu population declined from 84.68% to 78.06% between 1950 and 2015. The share of the Muslim population increased to 14.09%.
