Counting for Sunday’s Arunachal assembly votes; leading the BJP ahead with 10 unopposed victories

The counting of votes for the Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections, which went to polls on April 19, will take place on Sunday – two days before the counting of votes for Lok Sabha seats across the country.

While the counting of votes for the two Lok Sabha seats in the northeastern state would be held on June 4, the counting of votes for the assembly polls for Arunachal Pradesh (and Sikkim) has been proposed as the term of the present assembly ends on 2 June.

Although there are 60 members in the state assembly, voting was held in only 50 constituencies, 10 candidates of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his deputy Chowa Mein, won their seats unopposed.
