Mineral springs. W. Va. — A woman died and two of her neighbors were injured trying to save her in a fire in Wood County.

The fire happened Friday night on Dickens Drive in Mineral Wells.

Wood County deputies said Blake Ritchie and Tracy Morris tried to save their neighbor, who is disabled, but were unable to reach her. Even those who intervened could not reach the victim.

Ritchie and Morris suffered from exposure to the flames and smoke inhalation and were taken to the hospital, deputies said.

Firefighters recovered the woman’s body from the home. It is believed to be that of Christine Corena Miracle, 63.

The State Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
