David Beckham swaps beekeeping tips with the King as he becomes an ambassador for the monarch’s charity

David Beckham compared “beekeeping tips” to the king when they met before the former England football captain was appointed ambassador for the monarch’s charity.

After apparently meeting with King Charles privately last month, the former Manchester United footballer was confirmed as an official supporter of the King Foundation.

In a statement, Beckham said he had “always been keen to help young people expand their horizons” and added that he “looks forward to supporting … the foundation’s efforts to ensure young people have access to greater in nature”.

The footage shows the 49-year-old working with students taking part in the charity’s woodworking classes at Snowdon School of Furniture in Highgrove.

But while Beckham said the King’s work was “inspiring to hear”, also said it was great to “compare beekeeping tips” with the monarch.

During the UK lockdown, Beckham developed a passion for beekeeping and has since posted videos of himself working on his hives for World Bee Day.

Last May, Beckham presented the monarch with a jar of honey she harvested at home during the British Fashion Council Foundation’s Impact Day 2023.

Established by the King in 1986 when he was Prince of Wales, the foundation aims to revitalize communities through regeneration and urban planning and to support sustainable food production and teach rural skills.

It comes as the King continues to ease back into public life, with him following along with the Queen their horse came last at Epsom Friday.
