Barbara Christians, 59, formerly of Sibley | The obituaries

SIOUX FALLS, SD—Barbara Jane Christians, 59, Sioux Falls, SD, died Thursday, May 23, 2024, at her residence.

Barbara Koopman, the daughter of Karyl and Louise (Strough) Koopman, was born on August 13, 1964, in Sibley, IA. She grew up in Sibley and graduated from Sibley High School. Barbara later attended cosmetology school in Le Mars, IA.

Barbara was united in marriage to Dean Christians on July 25, 1987. The couple moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she worked at Several Business as a cosmetologist. He then worked for AAA Travel Agency for about five years, then worked for the Sioux Falls School District in Central Kitchen for the past 14 years.

Barbara enjoyed cooking, four wheeling, camping, (loved) garage sales, traveling and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Dean; two sons, Austin and Christopher Christians; sister, Kay (Clifford) Kraft; brother, Kyle (Kim) Koopman; niece, Heather, (Justin) Bass; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Jane Christians; sister, Karen Koopman; and her parents.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, SD, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
