The Austintown Fitch Falcons knocked off Watkins Memorial to take home the Division I state title for the second year in a row.

Fitch wasted no time getting on the board when Ayla Ray hit a solo home run to right center in the bottom of the first inning. Sydnie Watts then followed up that home run with a homer of her own in the second inning. It’s her 13th home run of the season and her third straight game with a home run. Kaliana Ray knocked in two more runs to end the inning and the Falcons held on to an early four-run lead.

Watts and the Falcons defense stymied any comeback attempts by the Warriors. She had several strikeouts in the game, including a pair in the 5th to send things into the middle of the inning. Watts finished with ten strikeouts in the game.

The Falcons held Watkins Memorial scoreless and Watts struck out the final batter to earn the repeat for Fitch.

Fitch takes home back-to-back state titles with a 4-0 win over Watkins Memorial.
